Cardinal Fesch requested the construction of the building that holds Musee Fesch. Following his death in Rome in 1839, he left more than 1, 000 works of art to his home town of Ajaccio. There are several collections here, both temporary and permanent. Among the permanent collection are pieces from the Neopolitan and Roman Baroque periods, as well as Napoleonic and early Italian pieces.
